Ascend 5W how to change default Alarm ringtone

#1

On the Ascend 5W, is there a way to change the default alarm ringtone in stock Clock app (it defaults to Creamy)? I can change it for each individual alarm, but I want to set it for every new alarm that I will create to be a certain alarm ringtone. Note, I tried putting Google Clock app on the phone (which was the alarm app on my Moto G) but it apparently does not work with new DOZE function of Android 6 (Marshmallow) and alarms don’t ring when in DOZE mode. (I read a lot of alarm programs don’t work correctly in DOZE mode). Thanks

I found a way (although not inherent to Android) to change the default alarm ringtone

  1. Install ES File Explorer
  2. Open it Local/Device
  3. Browse to /system/media/audio/alarms
  4. Click on the file you want and in the “Open with” prompt select “ES Media Player”
  5. Click on the bell beside the file name, pick “Set alarm” and click OK

Note, I didn’t like any of the default ringtones so I copied a ringtone a folder called Alarms and in step 2 did Local/Internal Storage and Browsed to Alarms and chose my file and continued.

I should mention, this will work with any phone, not just the Ascend 5W
