I have a Moto X 4 and just bought a wireless speaker to use with the phone via Bluetooth. I don’t know anything about this technology and I’m wondering if when the phone Bluetooth is activated and I’m listening to a podcast, music, whatever through the speaker, is WiFi or cell data being used? My data usage has suddenly spiked and I’m wondering if this is the reason?
The bluetooth speaker itself only acts as a replacement to your phone’s internal speakers when connected. So in that sense it cannot spike your data usage.
What app are you using for listening to podcast/music? You will want to make sure that your phone stays connected to WiFi while you are listening…otherwise it will switch over to Cell data to access the audio content.
