My son’s phone was stolen while on vacation out of the country. He is worried someone will access his passwords and bank accounts etc. We want to cancel immediately but keep his phone number for when we get home from vacation and order a new phone. Can I do that?
If you cancel the line [phone] you will lose the number, and that would not prevent someone from accessing the data on the phone, my recommendation would be to lock and/or erase the phone via Android Device Manager
To cancel service but keep the number move the number to a service like NumberBarn that will hold the number for you for a few bucks a month. Then when you’re ready to reactivate the phone you can port the number back to Republic from NumberBarn.
