Changes to the Sprint network

How will Republic be impacted by changes made to Sprint’s network by T-Mobile?

At this time there is no official news regarding how/when any forthcoming changes will impact Republic customers. I’m sure that at some point in the not distant future Republic will have something to say, but that date has not come yet. Rest assured that when they have something to say it will be said quite publicly with press releases, forum posts, emails to customers, etc. It won’t be hidden in a reply to the question being raised in the forums.

Here’s what we know UNofficially:

  1. T-Mobile is shutting down the legacy Sprint CDMA network. This means that at some point the legacy Moto Defy, X1, X2, G1, G3, E1 and E2 will stop working.

  2. The Sprint & T-Mobile networks are being combined. As this happens Republic customers will gain the benefit of the combined coverage of both networks. I already see this in my area where my T-Mobile configured Republic phone uses Sprint’s B25 LTE coverage in an area where previous T-Mobile coverage was lousy
