I’d like to change a Moto X 2nd generation down to wi-fi only for awhile as the screen is shot and I’m trying to decide how/if to fix it. Can I change monthly plan via my account on republicwireless.com rather than through the phone itself?

The official answer is to sign into the account housing your broken phone using another Republic Wireless phone. If one is not available, please try this undocumented and unsupported means of doing so from a computer: Republic Wireless.
And if that doesn’t work then you will need Republic support to make the change
