Chromebook and Phone

So, just got me a new Chromebook and it seems like it ‘really’ wants me to link my phone.
Not against it necessarily, just wondering if anyone has some Pro’s/Con’s, I’ve always kept ‘tech’ in little boxes, but it seems they all want to ‘get out’ and mingle. :stuck_out_tongue:

Google is determined to require linked phone numbers and is making it part of the login to their services. Chrome and Windows are both making it tougher to compartmentalize tech choices. Good luck…

Google wants you to link your phone to the Chromebook? Or, Google wants you to use a Google account on the Chromebook as it also wants on the phone? In other words, is the phone number linked to the Chromebook or the Google account in question?

Google will send SMS to a phone number linked to a Google account for 2FA when signing into one’s Google account though the preferred method is sending a notification to all phones signed into the same Google account.
