I just downloaded music from my computer to the google play music app on my phone. When I play that music on my car audio system, does it use a lot of data?
Locally stored music will not use any data at all.
In order to ensure that Google Play Music does not use any data while driving, make sure to enable the switch for
“downloaded only” (accessed by tapping on the three horizontal lines in the top left of the app)
while in this mode the app displays the text “Downloaded Only” at the top.
If you disable the downloaded only mode, you can still play music that originated from your computer…but if you end up using the search feature, etc…that will use cellular data if not connected to WiFi.
