Dumb-like phone

Hello All!

I know a true-dumb phone would not work on the republic business model, but would there be a market for faux-dumb phones? It is plain that Republic sees a need for a simpler product (Relay), but wanted to see if any of you guys think you would have a use for a phone that could only text or call.

Just curious if it is just me or if others have this desire as well!

One can use a launcher like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tct.simplelauncher or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.demo that can provide a simple interface on a smartphone in use on Republic. Take a look, tell us what you think!

Nokia 3310 would be cool (I’m thinking of ditching the smartphone altogether), but VoLTE implementation is going to change the feature phone market a bit in the future. Republic Wireless is also still trying to adhere to that Wi-Fi thing. Not many feature phones are Wi-Fi enabled or can implement IP calling/texting.

Downloaded the app and I definitely understand the purpose of the simpler UI.

To be perfectly transparent, the reason I want this is because I waste too much time doing smart phone things like youtube that are great in moderation, but I just don’t have the self-control to stop when I need to. Maybe it is just the nostalgia effect, but I look back to my dumb-phone days with longing for that simpler time with less options.

I’m probably an unusual case as most people looking for dumb phone options are looking because of the simplicity of the UI.

Ah, different use case. You might want to look at something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.covenanteyes.androidservice or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.symantec.familysafety
