Galaxy S8+: question about RW frequencies/bands supported

#1

Hi. I currently have an old Moto X on Republic’s CDMA network. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a Galaxy S8+ and I assume RW would put it on the GSM network. I was wondering if the Galaxy S8+ is lacking any bands that it would need to make full use of available cell signals. The RW site lists the model SM-G955U1 (aka SM-G955UZKAXAA) as compatible with the service, but when I check willmyphonework.net for info, it shows that it only supports 2 of the 4G LTE bands and none of the other bands:

My current phone steps down to 3G when the signal isn’t strong enough or available at all, including inside many stores, offices, or other common places (assuming places with no wifi available). Does this mean that the S8 can’t switch to a different speed/frequency if the signal gets too weak, and that I would be more likely to be completely disconnected if the signal isn’t great? I checked the GSM coverage in my area and it seems pretty good except for a few small dead zone pockets. I realize signal strength is different everywhere, but I was wondering if the lack of frequencies would limit the S8 to only be able to connect in areas with great 4G LTE signal, and if I could potentially have more trouble than usual connecting inside buildings with no wifi. I would consider the Google Pixel 2 XL or something else if the lack of frequencies is an issue. I am not sure if the linked site is accurate to begin with, so anyone with experience with this please let me know. Thanks.

I don’t know how actulet that site is
the Samsung Galaxy S8+ has the same radio and bands as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Samsung Galaxy S8 Tech Specs – Republic Help
Cellular:

GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz);
4G LTE (Cat11 DL, Cat5 UL) (B1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8,12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)

The site is just wrong. The unlocked version of the phone supports ALL LTE bands not only for Republic partners, but for carriers around the world, other than the latest band 71. (which only 2 phones out support – The Galaxy S8 Active and the LG V30).

Specifically: LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8,12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66

Hi @shywolfcry!

The S8+ supports the following bands (per this page https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/phones/galaxy-s/galaxy-s8-plus-64gb--unlocked--sm-g955uzkaxaa/#specs ):

B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B13(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(800), B28(700), B29(700), B30(2300), B66(AWS-3).

Per TMobile( https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988), they support bands 2, 4, 12, and band 66. The only band missing is band 71. From my research, Band 71 is relatively new and has just started rolling out. Since it’s new, I don’t believe you should experience any substantial loss of coverage. I hope that helps!

Thanks! I don’t know what’s up with that site, it’s some random one that came up in a google search. But I really appreciate the help with this.
