Google Photos trimmed videos are defective

I use Moto Camera 2 to take videos on my Moto X4. I trim the videos using Google Photos. I updated Google Photos on 6/5/2020. Since then, whenever I trim a video, the resulting trimmed video has intermittent blurring (pixelation) every other second, lasting about a second. This did not happen in the original video. I have posted to the Google Photos Help site and have not gotten any responses after 5 days. I have emailed Google directly and have not heard back.

By uninstalling the latest Photos update, I can trim videos without any defects visible on the trimmed videos. This seems like a poor work-around. Any other suggestions? Any other video edit apps to recommend?

Hi andriuss!

That’s a very odd unfortunate bug. Hopefully they get a fix out in their next release. I haven’t used a lot of other video editing apps myself, but I have heard really good things about the app YouCut. Give it a shot and let us know how it works out for you!

Thanks, Travis
