Greetings and Introductions!

Hi @michaelm.xcqo4l,

Welcome! We love your enthusiasm! Thanks for introducing yourself. Can you tell us about something you’ve built? Photos? I don’t know that we’ve ever had someone introduce himself as a “Master carpenter” before.

It looks like we had some other people comment on not being able to upload photos today, but please give it another try. Use the image button. The two to its left are for creating slideshows and sometimes they don’t quite work as expected.

I’ve moved the replies to your SIM card question to the topic you started on that subject - that way we aren’t answering the same question in multiple places and we can focus on those specifics all in one place.

Hello, Chad here from the Midwest. RW has been great for the price and to try something different. I work for a fire dept. and am interested in getting the most out of my phone and using communications to get things done. The best place in the US I have visited is Seattle Washington, but I think Duluth, MN is my favorite city.

#89

Hi @chadwhick,

Welcome to our online Community! I’ve never been to Duluth. What makes it your favorite city?

I hope you’ll share some of your learnings on these ideas with us! Feel free to start a new topic and discuss some of the things you’ve been able to do with your phone.

I love Republic wireless . It suits my needs perfectly. I have had your smart phone for only 3 years. I’ve had a smart phone is new to me. I’m in a hurry now , so one quick question. I have a Moto4 Play. My plan is only “unlimited talk and text”.I do not have any data plan.

I understand that I can text from Europe to U.S Will this be an extra charge ?? I will be on a cruise ship with WiFi available.

#91

will the recipient of my texts get billed from Verizon?

#92

No extra charge(s) from Republic. Often, the cruise line charges for WiFi access onboard, so I suggest checking in with them on that.

Because you’'re on a ship and/or outside the U.S., unlikely but generally when wondering what someone else might charge for something, best practice might be to ask the someone else.

Finally, welcome to the Community!

My name is Darryl. From Western New York State. Retired but belong and very active with my local American Legion Post, working as Membership Chair among other things. I am very computer savy, having been a computer operator and part time programmer many years ago. I also was in banking customer service, including Internet Banking Specialist (using Live Chat, E-mail, Phone support and Bill Pay service). I am pretty good with PCs, both hardware and software and operating systems. I do not currently have pets, but have had cats in the past. I first got interested in Republic, when I heard about ability to have a smart phone with a low monthly rate. First phone was a Moto X. I currently have a Moto G6. Favorite tip, Wow! I guess Clearing System Cache and found it on the Community Forum. Buffalo Bills as they are only 70 miles away in Buffalo. Had season tickets for over 20 years in the '70s, 80s and '90s. Like spaghetti and meatballs best. Walking Dead is favorite show right now, and Game of Thrones when it comes back. Best place was the country of Greece, where I was stationed for 24 months while in the US Navy. Had an apartment in Athens for 6 months. I also have been to Saudi Arabia, Africa and India and several islands in the Indian Ocean, during Navy years.

Hi @darrylc,

Thank you for your service.

We are always glad to have friendly, computer-savvy folks in Community, so we hope you’ll sign in often and share some of your knowledge.

#99

Hello @darrylc welcome!!

#100

Thanks, and will do. If something is going to go wrong, it will happen to my phone, and I will share the fix. Working on something wrong with it right now.

Ps. You sent me a screen protector for my last phone a Moto G5, which I went swimming with, and reason for my purchase of current Moto G. Ha Ha.

#101

Thanks. Hope to share my latest problem here in the community.

#102

How about that! We have something in common!

So now we know the screen protector does not waterproof the phone…

Sorry to hear that. I got my daughter’s first phone brand-spanking clean in the washing machine, and I still remember that sick feeling as the realization came over me that the out-of-place thing I was looking at in the bottom of the washer was not something that should be washed.

Looks like you have some bad luck as well. Working with an Expert to try to get my problem fixed. I updated the software to most current, and hoped that fixed the problem, but still having it.

@southpaw has been my #1 since joining but there are a ton of excellent community members as well to give you ideas or point you in the right direction!
