How to block unwanted calls and texts

#1

If you’re getting nuisance calls and/or texts and can’t get the caller or sender to stop, here’s some ways to block a number from ringing your phone or interrupting your day with a text.

Blocking Texts

Either Republic Anywhere or Android Messages can be used to block text senders. If you're not using one of those, you'll want to install either of them and make that your default texting app. Here's how to block a sender with these apps:
  1. Open the conversation with that sender.
  2. Tap the 3-dot-button.png button at the upper right.
  3. Tap People & options
  4. Tap Block (sender name/number) and confirm it.

Automatically hang up on nuisance calls

Most call blocking apps only send callers to voicemail, but certain ones can can silently hang up on callers. The app Call Blocker Voicemail Blocker can silently hang up on unwanted calls. You might see the call appear on the screen for a moment and/or hear your ringtone for second before it answers and hangs up. It has a low profile mode for less impact on battery life, but that option may increase the chance of hearing the phone ring for a moment. Also check out the settings option Sync FCC Report, which will reject callers that are on the FCC’s list of numbers that are known for making unsolicited calls.
