I get atleast 5-6 text messages a a day from someone elses facebook (probably the previous owner of the phone number I have.) When I text “stop” or “off” I get a message in response saying “Please use a valid number for SMS” These constant texts from people who I dont know are getting annoying. Can republic wireless BLOCK this number from sending me texts?
Your phone has an underlying phone number and regular phone number. You can open a support ticket and have them change the underlying phone number if that is where the text messages are going to.
Go to the bottom of the help page to open a support ticket.
Your Huawei Ascend 5W has something called a “Harassment filter” capable of blocking both calls and text messages. It works with your phone’s public facing Republic number and its secondary number referenced by @marshallh. To access it:
- Open the Phone Manager app.
- Tap Harassment filter.
- Tap Gear icon upper right.
- Tap Numbers blacklist.
- Tap Add at the bottom of the screen.
Since there’s no guarantee that a new secondary number will be better than the one you have, I think invoking your Ascend’s Harassment filter is worth a shot before involving Republic support.
