Integrating Moto G6 Play with Local Phone for international calls

Going to Europe. I’ve read the tips in “Will My Republic Wireless Service Work Internationally” and opened an account with LocalPhone. But the instructions for Integrating Your International Service don’t seem to work. Any suggestions?

Hi @dianec.9se48k and welcome to the Community!

We can thank Motorola for messing up the Phone app. There are a couple of options.

Somewhat Complex and Elegant:

  1. Install QuickShrortcutMaker.
  2. Open QuickShortcutMaker.
  3. Search for “SIP Settings”.
  4. Tap Phone Services.
  5. Tap the second resulting Phone Services entry.
  6. Tap Try.
  7. Proceed starting with Step 7 here: Calling International Numbers with a Republic Phone.

Less Elegant but Easier:

Use Zoiper as described here: Calling International Numbers with a Republic Phone.

Please know using Localphone will allow you to make calls to local (in country) numbers when connected to WiFi as you travel but will not provide cellular coverage outside the U.S. For more on that, please see here: International Travel with a Republic Phone.
