Moto E (Xt 1019) compatible with my plan?

Hello. I lost my Ascend and I have the chance to replace it with a Moto E (Xt 1019) that says it is Republic Wireless only. My current plan is “My Choice Talk & Text”. Will this phone work?

Hi @shawnm.6jt9iy,

Presuming the referenced Moto E1 is truly the Republic specific variant, it may be activated with Republic but not on your current My Choice plan. It would instead activate on Republic’s grandfathered refund plans described here: Republic Wireless Plans 2.0: Republic Refund – Republic Help.

To remain on My Choice, you need one of the “3.0” phones listed here: Republic Wireless Phones – Republic Help.

So it is ok to transition back to an earlier plan? I would do the $10 plan and add 1 Gig for $5 if that’s still available with that plan

Hi @shawnm.6jt9iy,

It’s certainly OK to transition back and the $10 plan is an option. Please know, however, cell data on Republic’s refund plans is $15/GB rather than $5/GB. Unlike My Choice, one is, however, refunded for unused cell data.

The Ascend is a GSM only phone… if you go with the XT1019…that comes with CDMA coverage…so your coverage could be different.

If you were the former user of this XT1019 and had good coverage on it in your area…then you should be all set.
But if you are receiving it from another source…then it would be good idea to review the coverage before going with that phone.
