Moto G6 - Photos - SD Card now is default storage for photos - I DID IT!

What phone do you have? Moto G6

What plan are you on? MyChoice + Data

Does your plan include data, or just talk & text? Data also

Issue Description

I figured it out! I reformatted the (currently empty) SD Card as ‘portable’ (so I can take it out of the phone if needed -- versus formatting it ‘internal memory’, which makes it permanent phone memory and therefore, to remove, would require deleting the contents). Then I opened Camera app, went to the Settings, and at the bottom of the settings list was ‘Save settings’ which allowed me to assign the SD card as default storage. I tested it. I’m IN!! woo hoo!!!!! Also, I was leary of the Storage Manager but researched, then enabled it. I don't know if that was part of the fix or not.

@helenw.dsrvdd - glad you were successful in setting up the SD card as portable storage. We have both of our G6’s setup that way.

Here are a couple of links from Motorola about setting up the SD cards. They might helps others who look at this thread based on the title.
