Does your plan include data, or just talk & text? yes

Issue Description

my husband was using the phone, he might have pushed some buttons accidentally, went to a dead robot. we've gotten to where recovery mode and other things are choices, but neither power or volume up button will choose anything. There's a message about plugging the phone into a computer but he doesn't have access to one right now. If he finds one will it need to be on the internet to help?

Hello @wendym.m7vlod

If you are still in the same area where you see Recovery Mode as a choice, you should be able to scroll using the Volume Down button to choose Recovery then press the Power button to select. From there you will get another menu. Again use the Volume Down button to select “Reboot System now” and press the Power Button. That should do it

Thank you. He tried that. The power button will not select anything.

What happens if you just hold the power button down for 30 seconds or so?

Thanks for your help. When he holds down the power button for 30 seconds or a lot longer, the screen goes back and forth between a black screen and one that says-- At the top: Bootlegger logs MIddle of screen in red: Start up failed. Your device didn’t start up successfully. Use the software repair assistance on computer to repair your device. Connect your device to your computer to get the software repair assistance.
There are more words at the bottom of the screen.

You can find links to the rescue & smart assistant software and help here:

Thank you very much for this info. I have passed it on and see if it will help.

Also, the bottom of the screen says in case this is of any help:
AP fastboot flash mode(secure)
no bootable A/b slot
Failed to boot linux, falling back to fastboot
Fastboot reason: Fall through from normal boot mode

Yeah, it looks like the phone is not seeing a bootable OS image. The rescue & smart assistant should help you flash a bootable rescue image to the phone.

Thanks for all your help. He tried the links you sent and tried working with Motorola on the phone today. No luck. It is only 4 months old so they said he can send it in for repair, so he’ll either do that or pay the local cell phone place to fix it cause he might not be able to be without a phone for a week. Appreciate everyone’s assistance with this.
