New g5, can't make calls


I just received my new G5, replacing a G1. I activated the phone and I can receive calls but I can’t make calls. The following message appears “This phone isn’t configured to make calls. Do you want to change this phone’s configuration?” Followed by “Change Configuration.” After selected “Change configuration” another message appears asking if I want to “Grant Permission” or “Not now.” I select “Grant Permission” and I then go to Settings. What do I do next?


Please try the following:

  1. Open Settings if not already open.
  2. Scroll to, then tap Apps.
  3. Scroll to, then tap Republic Wireless.
  4. Tap Permissions.
  5. Toggle on Microphone, Phone, SMS and, optionally, Storage.

Thank you rolandh. I needed to enable Microphone and that solved my
problem. I could not find that process anywhere!

You’re most welcome!

You’re not supposed to need the process I outlined. When the Republic app asks for permissions and one allows those requested, configuration should just happen. For whatever reason, from time to time, it seems not to happen as intended. All I did was supply the manual means of configuring the Republic app’s permissions.

Bottom line, you’re up and running! :slight_smile: Sorry for the hiccup in getting there.
