Old phone de-activation

I was told that when I activated my new Google Pixel 4a, my old Moto phone would automatically be de-activated. I just looked at my old phone, and I was surprised to see that the phone was still active. It’s the same phone number. I can’t send texts, but I can go online.

I don’t want to have to pay for two phones. It’s the same phone number.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Does your new phone make calls and receive texts sent to your number? Then your old phone is deactivated. A deactivated phone, while on Wi-Fi, is just like a mini tablet and can access the web, your email, apps, etc. as long as you’re not talking about phone functions meaning calling and texting.
