On promotion with Moto Z Play switch to Moto X PE

So we bought a Moto Z Play on the promotion last year with 6 months free service.

Well… someone in my family dropped something on the Moto Z Play and the screen doesn’t work anymore. It’s not cracked, it just stopped working. And it wasn’t a very hard impact at all.

I have a Moto X Pure Edition. If I switched to the Moto X PE, would I get the remaining 3 months of my promotion that I got for buying the Moto Z Play?

Also, do you think the warranty would cover the malfunctioning screen?
