Optimizing your Google Pixel battery settings for Republic Wireless:
In December of 2020 Google released an update to all 3rd generation (and up), Pixel phones. This update included a new feature/setting called “Extreme Battery Saver”. When using this feature it is necessary to add the Republic Wireless app to the list of “Essential apps” or your Google Pixel phone or it will not be able to send or receive phone calls when the feature is active in a WiFi only state. (No cell signal)
If Republic Anywhere is being used, it must be added to the “Essential apps” list for it to function regardless of WiFi or cell connectivity.
Open the Pixel’s settings and tap on Battery:
Tap on Battery Saver:
Tap on Extreme Battery Saver:
Tap on When to use:
This will let you choose between “Ask every time”, "Always use” and “Never use”.
If you choose “Never use” you are turning the feature off and don’t need to proceed with further settings.
The other 2 choices turn the “Extreme Battery Saver” feature on.
Tap on Essential apps:
Add a check for the Republic app:
And (if used) the Anywhere app:
