Ordered Pixel 3a (Google store); currently use Nexus 5x, do I need a new SIM?

As the topic states, is a new SIM required? (I am a Republic customer)

Hi @jays.xr8vwl

If your current phone is working, open the Republic Wireless app and touch the gear-shaped icon in the upper right corner of the app screen. Select “About”.
For SIM type do you see GSM or CDMA?

If you see GSM, that SIM can be moved to the Pixel 3a. If you see CDMA, please let us know.

Current SIM is GSM, so all good! Thank you for your prompt response. Best regards.

Hi @jays.xr8vwl,

There’s a bit more (not too much) to moving your Republic service to the new Pixel 3a than merely moving the SIM.

Once past initial setup on the new phone (follow on screen prompts for that, move the SIM. Next, be certain Republic’s mobile app is installed and/or updated on the new phone. Finally, opening on Republic’s app will present a brief activation sequence moving service (number and plan) from old to new phone.

Hi @jays.xr8vwl - Both @johnny5 and @rolandh gave you some great steps to get you going with your new phone. Here’s an RW document with step-by-step instructions if you prefer more details.

There are several links within the document for additional steps and help.
