How do you buy a phone without selecting a plan? Phone is a gift/replacement.
Just buy the phone as phones now come unactivated and plans are chosen when activation occurs. So there’s nothing stopping buying just a phone. If you buy from Amazon or somewhere else remember to buy a RW sim card from Amazon or the RW store.
You can buy phones through Amazon, Best Buy and B&H without a plan. If you buy from, Republic, their computer selects the best network for you providing you don’t buy a GSM only phone, so this may be a problem if buying for a gift.
Just make sure you buy the correct one when buying somewhere else. If you have any questions as to whether the phone you going the buy is correct, ask here before buying. The correct model and build is important when buying a Samsung J3 and S6 or a Moto Z or Moto Z play.
Republic’s coverage map for TMobile is junk, use this one instead and make sure TMobile works for you if you buy a GSM only phone. 4G LTE Coverage Map | Check Your 4G LTE Cell Phone Coverage | T-Mobile
thank you. it is in the same town I live. However, they already have a RW plan, just needs a new phone. Don’t want them to activate it for $19.00/mo when their current plan is $11.++. can they just leave plan as is and swap phone over Motorola X pure replacing a moto g 2nd gen? Or do I have to buy from Amazon to do this?
Be aware that with these new phones you have to go on a 3.0 plan at a different cost. The base plan is now 15 dollars a month. No Contract Cell Phone Plans without the hidden fees | Republic Wireless
Swapping the phones is no problem.
If you buy from Amazon or one of the others, you will need to buy a SIM too. Amazon sells this SIM, if you buy from Amazon.
If you buy from Republic, the SIM is installed.
One more thing. If you buy from someone besides Republic, as of today the phone will go on TMobile’s network. Maybe by the end of the year they will allow folks to choose Sprint or TMobile, but Republic hasn’t said yet.
To dany.xmaaxc: No matter where you buy a new phone they will not be able to stay on their $11.++ plan. They must switch to the 3.0 plans which start at $15.++.
