Issue Description

Hi @corky and welcome to the Member Community. Here are a couple of links with discussions about “Apps Optimizing” and battery issues for the Moto x 1st Gen.

How old is the phone? Might be time to consider a battery replacement. Might also be worth trying a battery calibration. Here’s a link to the procedure from Motorola for the Moto X2. Not sure what Moto X you have but you can try it.

Hope this helps. Other Members with a Moto X might have some suggestions too!

Hi @corky,

We used to see quite a bit of the “optimizing apps” behavior, however, as its limited to older Republic phones, we do not see it often these days. The two solutions are"

  1. Turn the phone on when it’s not charging.
  2. If the phone is on its charger, hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds, then release it. Generally, the phone will start up shortly thereafter.

Either 1 or 2 would preclude the optimizing apps behavior. Republic notes this here: Optimizing App Message Appears After Rebooting Phone – Republic Help

The battery issue is another matter. What you describe is classic battery failure and given the age of the phone not terribly surprising. The Moto X1 was manufactured in 2013. If @freddyp’s suggestions don’t help, it’s probably time for a new phone. Any replacement battery is likely to be almost as old as the phone itself. Motorola hasn’t manufactured replacement batteries for these phones for years now.
