Q: migrate moto x to moto x pure workflow

I currently have a Republic Moto X (1st Gen - Purchased Jan 26, 2015).

Have a Motorola X Pure (unlocked) on the way from B&H.

I have a Republic SIM card on the way, too.

I want to transfer my current contacts, apps, current phone number, Republic account, etc to the new Moto X Pure.

So, please advise regarding workflow - hopefully some of you have made a similar move -

would like this to go as seamlessly as possible:

  1. Use Motorola Migrate while the X Pure is still running Lollipop (it ships with Lollipop).

  2. Update the X Pure to Marshmallow.

  3. Install the Republic App and SIM and follow the prompts.

  1. Finally, anything tricky in assigning my current Moto X’s number to the new Moto X Pure.

Am I missing anything? And sorry for the somewhat redundant post - but again, just want this go 1-2-3.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

You basically have all the info needed. I use my Gmail account to transfer the Contacts of my google account from the old phone to the new phone. I use Google photos so they are instantly there too. I open Playstore and the phone is already backed up with the Gmail or the playstore “My Apps” —> All has all my apps to update and install there too.
