Many times, when I get a call, I’ll see a caller ID on my cell phone and a different ID on my home phone. Both show the same phone number. Does anyone know why this happens?
Cellular calls do not deliver Caller ID name. Therefore on your cell phone the name you’re seeing is either coming from your contacts on the phone or if a Google or Moto phone from Google’s database or if a Samsung phone from Hiya’s DB.
So, the basic answer is that the called ID name on the extend home is coming from a DB that Republic subscribes to while the cell phone caller ID name comes from a different DB.
Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate it. It’s still puzzling, however, as to why the two databases have conflicting information.
It’s simply because these DBs are commercial entities and there’s no central authority around how they are updated.
