Recurring Charge for Cell Phone?

I recently purchased a Moto Z Play cell phone from Republic Wireless and charged it to my VISA card.

When I checked my VISA statement, this charge shows as a “Recurring Charge.”

It should show as a one-time charge, not a monthly recurring charge.

(My monthly subscription plan does show as a “Recurring Charge,” so that is correct.)

Can anyone enlighten me about this recurring charge for a cell phone?

The recurring charge is the portion that applies to the plan. The phone is a one-time charge. Perhaps your credit card company applied the wrong label. In any event, Republic Wireless will only bill you for your phone one time.

Recurring charge labels are valuable. If you credit card is compromised and a new card is issued the recurring charges will be processed for a period of time giving you a chance to update your accounts.
