No, the number will transfer to the replacement phone and the failed phone will be deactivated.
It says "Do you want to add a new line of service or replace an existing line of service on your account? If I click Replace (my phone number) it says "Please note that the Moto E (2nd Gen) this telephone number is currently assigned to will be deactivated when you complete your order. You will keep the same plan. Then the choice is “Upgrade line”
