What’re the details on this phone’s 5G support? Is this something we’ll be able to use with the FE or will it be disabled?

Republic does not alter the phones it sells in any way and the phone bought from Republic or from Samsung directly, are exactly the same. That said, Republic does not currently offer 5G service so while in use with Republic the phone will see the 5G networks but not be able to take advantage of them.

At the end of the day right now the 5G networks are in their infancy and offer little in the way of advantage. Of Republic’s partner networks, T-Mobile has “nationwide” 5G on 600MHz spectrum which is at best the same speed as LTE (and often slower). They have begun offering mid-band 5G in certain locations and while this is faster, it is only about 20% faster than the same mid-band LTE. There is no longer any Sprint 5G as that has been taken down as that spectrum is being refarmed to the T-Mobile network. TL;DR: Although at this time you won’t be able to use the 5G network, the only thing you’re missing is marketing hype.

Just got one from Samsung. They gave me a new silicone cover no charge. Got a good trade in for my S8.
