Samsung Galaxy S7 model?

Hi everyone, I’m looking into getting a Galaxy S7 to use with Republic Wireless. Which model do I need to get? Does anyone know if current Galaxy S7 users are happy with their phones on Republic Wireless. FYI, I’m upgrading from the 1st Gen Moto X

Hi @dc_shaheen
Your best bet is buying from the RW store. There is very few out in the wild that fit the bill. The other option is to buy it direct from Samsung.
The Samsung S8 & S8+ (both BYOD)
Are you in a good GSM (Tmobile) area? If not a BYOD isn’t recommended. I would look at the RW CDMA (sprint) phones. That same Service RW has been running over 5yrs now.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is model SM-G930U
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is model SM-G935U

Just to add to the correct information your got from @Bocephous2 know that a few people have had trouble with S7’s purchased on eBay that were actually other models that had been flashed with the 930U firmware.

So these are examples of phones that I could purchase? Not that I’m going to buy from these sites. Just looking around because RW is more expensive.{creative}%2C{keyword}&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3_XYkNDP1gIVkkoNCh2OAQGIEAkYAiABEgJFrPD_BwE&is=REG&m=Y&sku=1261399

The B&H one is good for republic, the eBay is questionable, they list only use on GSM Carrier which usually means the are not the North American Factory unlock model but Verizon or Sprint model that’s been reflash with the factory unlocked code, these have been hit and miss with Republic and can not be moved to the CDMA partner if GSM coverage is not working for you [note BYOD are all GSM [T-Mobile on start, but CDMA capable phones cane be converted to CDMA via a help ticket, also note your current phone is CDMA]

Thanks for all the replies. Just to be clear, when looking for the unlocked 930U and 935U I should be looking that it is compatible with GSM and CDMA, right? I’m in Long Beach, CA by the way. I’m also looking at the S7 because I want a good camera.

North American factory unlocked variants of the S7 and S7 edge, designated SM-G930U and SM-G935U respectively, are compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks.

As referenced by @drm186, some eBay sellers are passing off carrier branded variants originally intended for Verizon or Sprint as North American factory unlocked. They are not and thus will not activate for CDMA with Republic.

B&H is a very reputable company and they give you a 30-day return period on the phone; they also offer an extended warranty if that’s something you’re interested in; and they only charge sales tax in NJ and NY, so it’s a way to save a little more cash.
