Samsung Galaxy S9+ will not activate

I recommended Republic Wireless to a relative with Samsung Galaxy S9+ presently on Verizon. He got the SIM card from Republic, and we tried doing the activation. It says that the Galaxy S9+ is not compatible with Republic. In checking further it specifies model number SM-G965U1, and he has SM-G965U, one digit less, the number 1, at the end. Is there any way to get this Galaxy S9+ to work with Republic?

I’m afraid you and your relative aren’t going to like the answer for, in short, it’s no. The 1 at the end of the model number is critical. It’s what separates a factory unlocked from a phone customized for the big 4 wireless carriers.
