SIM Card from Moto 2nd Gen to Moto G4 Play

My Moto G 2nd gen phone got wet, and died. So, I bought a new Moto G4 Play and I want to transfer the SIM card from my old phone to my new phone. When I try to activate the new phone, it doesn’t seem like it’s recognizing the old SIM card in the new phone. Do I need to buy a new SIM card?

Thanks!

The SIM in your Moto G2 will not work in your Moto G4. You will need to buy a SIM from RW or Amazon. Be aware that when you bring a phone bought elsewhere it will work with RW’s GSM carrier, not the CDMA carrier you are accustomed to. The only way to get a Moto phone that works on the CDMA carrier is to buy it from RW. You should probably check the coverage with this map:

and see what RW recommends for you here:

Coverage Check | Republic Wireless
