I have a Moto X 2nd gen from Republic that I’ve been using for the past year or so. I bought a Moto G Plus (4th gen) that is unlocked from Best Buy today. It is loaded with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). I put the Sim card from the Moto X into the new phone and downloaded the Republic app. The app says “Supported Phone Great news! Your phone is supported. Please insert your Republic Wireless SIM card to get started”. The sim card is recognized by the phone because it is trying to connect to Sprint network. I can’t get the Republic app to work. What am I doing wrong??
the SIM from the Moto X 2nd Gen is linked to the Phone and must stay with that phone (Part of the Legacy phones Custom ROM and the BYOD is also GSM (T-Mobile) not the Moto X 2nd was CDMA)
you need to buy a GSM SIM (which will be able to move to other 3.0 Phone)
Ah, I see. Thank you for the info. I guess I’ll be buying a new sim card.
For what it’s worth, SIMs in Republic legacy phones are tied to the phone because that’s the nature of CDMA technology. It’s not because of the modified ROM.
