Trying to activate Republic sim card

We are trying to activate a new Republic sim card in our current phone (so we keep our number). After we atart the Republic app it asks for a PIN #. We don’t have a PIN#.
If we skip that then it says it can’t connect.

What happened to the existing SIM card that would make you want to move a new SIM card to a current phone?

Can you share a screenshot of what it’s asking, or give us the exact wording?

Where did you get the SIM card you are trying to activate, and what is its history? Has it ever been used before?
