UICC mismatch after switching to new phone

I just switched to a new Moto E 2nd Gen after my old one was having charging problems. I took the SIM from the old phone and put it in the new one, and even after getting republic all set up on the new phone, attempting cell configuration fails due to a UICC Mismatch error. What is my problem? Should I be using the new SIM, or did I miss something in the activation process?

For the Moto E 2nd Gen phone, SIM cards are married to the phone. Please remove the old phone’s SIM card from the new phone.

If your newer Moto E 2nd Gen phone did not have a SIM card when you acquired it, please open a support ticket so our team can send you one that is correctly programmed to work with your new phone.

i am experiencing the same problem. how can i get the correct SIM???

Assuming your new phone is a Republic Wireless Moto X1, X2, G1, G3, E1 or E2, you should open a support ticket: Tickets | Republic Wireless
