Using a Verizon issued Samsung Galaxy S6 with Republic

#1

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 that I am trying to use with Republic, and when I insert the sim card, I don’t get anything compatible thus far. What do I need to do to get this phone operational?

Hi @andrewd.o2qg9q,

I’m afraid Republic supports only the North American factory unlocked variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S6. Carrier branded variants (locked or unlocked) aren’t supported. Details here: Republic Wireless Phones – Republic Help.

To directly answer your question, nothing short of flashing the ROM might work.

Does the factory unlocked mean that it isn’t issued by a company?

Factory unlocked means issued by the manufacturer (in the case of the S6 Samsung) with no carrier (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) branding and (more to the point) no carrier specific software on the phone. It’s the latter that presents issues with using the phone on Republic.
