W-CDMA on my GSM phone

This morning I noticed that the provider (T-Mobile) had a W-CDMA connection to my RW
Moto G5+ phone. I am usually connected on LTE GSM bands 2, 4 or 12. Is the W-CDMA their version of 3G?

WCDMA is the precursor to HSDPA and HSPA+ and is used by GSM as an older 3G
