Why is Republic not listed as a carrier on the Smart911 webpage?

Trying to register phones in the Smart911 system and Republic is not listed as a carrier. Why?

you should registrar as a VOIP line not a mobile (Republic is a Hybrid VOIP/Cell with VOIP first

Hi @sandrar.vk4mvi,

I just walked through Smart911 setup. @drm186 is correct that Republic’s numbers are classified as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) rather than wireless. VoIP is the technology powering the WiFi part of Republic’s blended WiFi/cell service. In this case, it’s a distinction without a difference.

I told Smart911 my Republic number was mobile and it was accepted as such without issue. The spot where you’re asked to name your carrier is solely to generate a confirmation code to be sent via text message to your phone. Among the carrier choices is “Other”. If you select that, you shouldn’t have an issue receiving the confirmation code text. I didn’t. Here’s a screenshot of the received text messages from Smart911:

Republic Wireless now is listed. I had no problem signing up with Smart911 today.
