Would this tablet work with the new RW data SIM?

Hi @bobr.jl1hjm and welcome to the Community!

There’s no Republic software involved with a data only SIM. Your tablet needs to be cellular enabled. Does it have a SIM slot?

It has a SIM slot, but is not normally “cellular enabled”. It was recently upgraded to Android Pie.

I found this as a Google answer: “Wi-Fi–only Galaxy Tabs can’t access the digital cellular network.”

If it has a SIM slot, it is cellular enabled whether one is presently using the cellular capability or not. The only reason for a device to have a SIM slot is cellular network connectivity.

Google is correct, however, a truly WiFi only tablet wouldn’t have a SIM slot. You are certain it has a SIM slot and not a MicroSD slot, correct?

Hi @bobr.jl1hjm,

If those are the specs for your tablet (and I’ll presume they are :slightly_smiling_face:), it will indeed be compatible with Republic’s forthcoming data only SIM. The only caveat is it needs to be unlocked. So long as you didn’t buy it from a carrier’s store, it likely is.
